We have some incredibly exciting news to share from the Goldfields-Esperance Region! The SWIRL Centre has officially opened the brand new Esperance Wildlife Hospital, marking a significant milestone for native animal rescue and rehabilitation in Western Australia.
This new facility is a game-changer for wildlife care in our expansive region, as it is the first wildlife hospital outside a WA metro area. The opening of this new hospital is a monumental step forward.
The new Esperance Wildlife Hospital, an expansion of the SWIRL Centre, will serve as a critical hub for wildlife triage, initial assessment, stabilisation, and advanced medical treatment of all types of injured and displaced native animals. Their team of highly skilled volunteers, now operating in this weather-proof and specialist equipment stocked facility, will provide even greater capacity for intensive care that our wild patients frequently require.
This enhanced capability means that animals brought into care by the public and other dedicated rescuers in the Goldfields-Esperance area will have access to even more comprehensive and timely attention. It truly strengthens the entire network of wildlife carers and provides a beacon of hope for countless native creatures in need. The Esperance Wildlife Hospital is the only DBCA licensed wildlife possession organisation in the Goldfields-Esperance area that is licensed for all species, including those threatened and vulnerable.
The board of the Esperance Wildlife Sanctuary extend our warmest congratulations and deepest gratitude to the Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development for investing in this critical infrastructure, a welcome addition to the SWIRL Centre.
Their investment in the new Esperance Wildlife Hospital underscores a profound commitment to wildlife welfare and significantly boosts our collective efforts towards harmonious coexistence between humans and Western Australia's unique native fauna.
This is fantastic news for our community and for the precious wildlife we strive to protect!
The Esperance Wildlife Hospital works with all local wildlife home-carers, including Fauna For The Future Australia.
(*Esperance Wildlife Hospital is not Esperance Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation which was formerly Roo Haven, run by home carer Lynn Kidd and her family, and which does not hold a DBCA wildlife possession licence as an organisation)
